FARRP

Commercial Allergen Analyses Kits

In addition to its own methods, the FARRP analytical lab uses commercially available test kits from Neogen Corporation, Lansing, MI and r-biopharm Inc., Marshall, MI. Neogen created its kits based on FARRP methods in close cooperation with the FARRP staff.

Neogen Corporation Kits

Neogen's allergen kits are sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (S-ELISA) that allow users to obtain quantitative results in parts per million.

r-biopharm Inc. Kits

The Ridascreen Gliadin test is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of gliadins from wheat and corresponding prolamines from rye and barley in food. Gluten is the characteristic term for the protein mixture of glutelins and gliadins (prolamines) found in cereals. The proportion of glutelin to gliadin in the protein mixture is approximately the same.

Ridascreen Gliadin (R7001)

Limit of Quantitation: 2.5 ppm gliadin corresponding to 5 ppm (0.0005%) gluten
Sample preparation: Homogenization and extraction

Note: The gliadin test can detect gluten from wheat, rye and barley quantitatively with a limit of quantitation of 5 ppm.

Ridascreen Fast Gliadin (R7002)

Limit of Quantitation: 5.0 ppm gliadin corresponding to 10 ppm (0.001%) gluten

Note: In addition to wheat gluten, the Fast Gliadin kit is 100% cross-reactive to rye and barley.
